William J. Flautt

Early Life and Education

William J. Flautt was born in Somerset, Ohio, in 1984 to Joseph and Nancy Flautt. As a lifelong resident of Somerset, William grew up surrounded by the close-knit community values that would shape his professional and personal life. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 2002, marking the beginning of his academic and professional journey.



William pursued higher education at Miami University, where he earned a degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs in 2006. His passion for law led him to Capital University Law School, where he completed his legal studies in 2009 and was admitted to practice law in Ohio the same year.

Professional Experience

After graduating from law school, William gained valuable experience working at a law firm in Columbus, Ohio, from 2010 to 2012. There, he focused on personal injury law, honing his skills and gaining a broader perspective on legal practice.


In 2012, William returned to Somerset to join his father, Joseph Flautt, at Flautt Law Office. This move allowed him to contribute to the family firm and continue the legacy of excellence in legal practice established by his grandfather, George W. Flautt. At the firm, William has expanded the practice’s capabilities and deepened its community ties.



In addition to his work at Flautt Law Office, William serves in various public capacities, including as Solicitor for the Village of Somerset and the Village of Junction City, Ohio. He is also the Administrative Hearing Officer for the Perry County Child Support Enforcement Agency, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and the local community.

Personal Life

William married Ashley in 2015, and together they have three children: Emma, Harper, and Myles. The family resides in Somerset, where William enjoys spending quality time with his loved ones. His free time is often filled with family activities, including traveling and attending his children’s sporting events.

Joseph A. Flautt

Early Life and Education

Joseph A. Flautt was born in Somerset, Ohio, in 1954 to George and Norma Flautt. Growing up in this tight-knit community, Joseph developed a strong sense of local values and commitment to public service. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1973, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors.



Pursuing higher education, Joseph attended Miami University, where he earned a degree in Accounting in 1977. His academic journey continued at Capital University Law School, culminating in a law degree in 1980. That same year, he was admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Career and Professional Accomplishments

Upon graduating from law school, Joseph joined his father’s law firm, then known as Flautt and Allen, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in law. Alongside his private practice, he began serving as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Perry County Prosecutor’s Office in 1980.


Joseph’s dedication to public service and legal excellence led to his election as Perry County Prosecutor in 1996. He has continued to serve in this role with integrity and commitment, contributing significantly to the legal and civic landscape of Perry County.



In addition to his role as Prosecutor, Joseph has maintained a prominent position at Flautt Law Office, where he partners with his son, William Flautt. The firm, known for its strong family roots, benefits from Joseph’s extensive experience and legal acumen.

Personal Life

Joseph married Nancy in 1983, and the couple has made Somerset their home. They have two sons, William and Alan. Joseph enjoys spending his free time with his four grandchildren, cherishing family moments and engaging in hobbies such as golfing, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
